I have been metal detecting since the beginning of time, with my primary focus on Civil War relics. I also have been a collector of bottles, Indian Artifacts, rocks & minerals, and just about any other tangible link to the past. However, when it came to showing off my cherished relics, I was at a loss. I mean trying to find appropriate and/or affordable display cases was like pulling hen's teeth. There were simply none to be found. Oh sure, I could find those thin black cardboard display boxes, but even they sold for 4 or 5 dollars each .... and they are sooo, well let's just say, ahh... plain ugly …. Not really what one would want for a proud display. And I could go to the local crafts store and buy one of their painted shadow boxes for upwards of ten or twelve bucks, take it home and spend an hour or so repainting it, and it still wouldn't be quite what I wanted to display my cherished relics in.

I became so aggravated that I started manufacturing display cases out of totally recycled, reclaimed, or otherwise discarded materials, and turning out the perfect cases for my relics. I felt that nothing could be more appropriate than showing off my special "reclaimed" artifacts in a special display case made of "reclaimed" materials.

People started to notice the beauty of my cases both in my home and at shows, and wanted to know where they could buy some like them for their own use. Before long, I found myself taking orders, and as one thing led to another, I found myself in business producing NICE WOODEN DISPLAY CASES for CHEAP.

Trading under the registered name of WOOD-N-THINGS since 1989, we offered a wide variety of display cases, display shelves, and shadow boxes. Under our new name of HISTORICAL WOODWORKS, we will follow in the same tradition. Many designs will be standard in our line up. Often we will create and feature a truly one-of-a-kind display case or shelf, and we often have something running on Ebay.
